SPOKE FOLKS DEPENDS
ON SUPPORT Email spokefolks@riseup.net to learn how you can support our work DONATE BIKES, WHEELS,
PARTS, or TOOLS Donations We Accept: 1. If you have a complete bike that works well or seems like it would work well once you replace the tubes or old chain. 2. Good condition wheels (27" , 26" , 24") and tires. 3. Good condition seats, hand brake systems, pedals, free wheels, chains. 4. Good condition wrenches, screw drivers, and bike related tools
Donations We Will Not Accept: 1. Bikes covered in rust. (A rusty chain is okay, but more rust than that can indicate a bike that is beyond saving). 2. Old bike parts that "kind of work" but seem to be have problems. 3. Bikes that have any critical damage (bent frames, bent crank arms, bent forks, etc). Why We Don't Accept Everything: There are a lot of good bikes out there that just need a little help to get them moving again. We prefer to focus on these bikes because they will have a much longer life than the junker that we spend 10 hours fixing so that an old part on it can break again once someone rides it. Sometimes its best to just let some bikes die... So, if you have a bike that you need to get rid of and you don't think it is worth donating, please bring it to your local solid waste facility or scrap metal collector so that it can be recycled. VOLUNTEER Our program depends on the efforts of our volunteers. Volunteer work can include fixing bikes, taking old bikes apart, cleaning old parts, helping us manage kids during a workshop, or other skills you may have. Some people volunteer with our shop simply for fun, others volunteer because they would like us to help them fix their own bike.

GIVE MONEY Our budget is small but necessary in order to buy new parts, liability insurance, and tools. If you give money to our program, this is exactly what the money will be spent on. If you would like to make a small donation, you can make a check out to “Spoke Folks.” If you would like to make a larger donation that is tax deductible, you can make a check out to “R.O.S.C.” (our fiscal sponsor) with “Spoke Folks” written in the Memo. Either check can be sent to:Craig Saddlemire, Spoke Folks, 75 Maple Street Apt 1, Lewiston, Maine 04240 |
